International encounters
Broadening horizons, promoting understanding, learning for the future
The collaboration between helpers and supporters from Germany, Albania and other countries is in itself a contribution to international meeting and understanding – everyone involved gains knowledge and experience. But there are always occasions and ideas for additional encounters, in Albania or in Germany.
Participation in missions
Christmas parcel distribution, aid transport, construction campaigns, village outreaches or Diakonia conferences: in almost all operations we happily welcome participants who want to work with us or just be there. You can be part of the team or just come for a visit during your own trip to Albania. In any case, you will experience first-hand a world that is strange or even unimaginable to many people, combined with Albanian warmth and hospitality. After such a trip you will not only see the rare news about Albania, but also your own world with different eyes!
Meeting events
We have already organized group trips, and international youth camps used to take place regularly. Such events always depend on interested groups or a number of individual participants. Please feel free to contact us; perhaps, a group travel or a youth meeting can be organized.
International exchange
We happily support the exchange of people and organizations. We already had Albanian guests at our own and partner events, have organized visits from municipal delegations or internships abroad and hold information events (also with Albanian speakers). In 2016 we were able to hold an international seminar with Albanian and North Macedonian cities in Wismar, which served to promote tourism and cooperation around Lake Ohrid and led to a joint “Wismar Declaration”.
May 2022: Anniversary conference
Diakonia conferences are always a good opportunity for those interested to get to know the work on site. This time we celebrate: 30 years of CHW and 10 years of DA.
June 2022: Visit to Lezha
The CHW Höxter group organizes its own group trips, this time to Lezha, Kruja and Korça
August 2021: Summer outreach Holtas
During the Holtas missions, which have been taking place for many years, participants from Germany and Albania get to know life in an extremely remote village
April 2019: Town twinning
After several years of contact between the two cities, mayors Eduart Kapri and Thomas Beyer seal a partnership between Pogradec and Wismar
May 2016: Encounter in Krempe
Representatives of Diakonia Albania take part in the international parade in Krempe, Schleswig-Holstein
February 2016: Wismar tourism seminar
Representatives from the cities of Pogradec (Albania) and Ohrid and Struga (North Macedonia) see for Wismar’s tourist infrastructure and work on approaches for a joint development of the Lake Ohrid region – a contribution to cross-border understanding
August 2013: Albania exhibition
“Friends in the Mountains”: Frieder Weinhold’s 60th birthday becomes the occasion for a large exhibition in the Wismar MEZ shopping center. For several weeks, visitors can find out more about Albania and the work of CHW.
May 2013: Adventure trip
Partipicants get to know the Balkan region on a holiday and adventure trip: Dubrovnik, Tirana and Elbasan, Pogradec, Bishnica and Lake Ohrid, Voskopoja and Ohrid
